Interview with “Regina of Warsaw” author Geri Spieler

I had the opportunity to interview Geri Spieler, the author of “Regina of Warsaw”,  at the Rinconda Library in Palo Alto, CA in December 2024. The novel is based on the life of her grandmother, who fled the pogroms of Poland in 1910 as a young mother to live in Chicago and then Los Angeles. She was unable to convince her husband and parents to come with her, and they all perished in the Holocaust. Her second husband, Geri’s grandfather, abandoned the family in Chicago and she moved with her four children to Los Angeles, where she was forced to place three of them, including Geri’s mother, in a Jewish orphanage.

The interview is available on YouTube.
